How many books can I log in my database?

The system does not set a limit as to the number of books you can add. There are many factors that will affect the total number of books can be logged in the database.  For example, a book with a short note field filled in will take up less space than a book with a longer note field filled.  In general, the system can hold millions of book entries.  However, the current capacity of your computer’s hard drive could impact how much space is available to MyReadingLog.

The system stores books indefinitely. However, you can manually delete a book from the ”Book List” screen. Or, you can manually delete a User, which also deletes all of the books belonging to that User.

Known Issues

Receiving a "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office..." error when MyReadingLog is started

This message is usually an indication that you have multiple versions of Microsoft Office installed on your computer. You will receive this message if you open MyReadingLog (which is based on Microsoft Access 2007) and then open another application on your computer that is based on another version of Microsoft Office (or vice versa). Its Microsoft's way of "switching" between Office versions.

You should allow the configuration to complete. For more information, see this Microsoft article kb825941.

System seems to run slower when MyReadingLog is started from a Windows account that did not perform the original installation of MyReadingLog

This usually occurs because the MS Office logo on the top left corner of the screen is "activated" the first time MyReadingLog is launched for any Windows account. The continuous flashing utilizes excessive cpu cycles, and may lead to a slower system.

To deactivate the MS Office logo and stop the continuous flashing of the logo, perform the following actions:

This action only needs to be performed one time on each Windows account that you intend to run MyReadingLog.
